Frog F: Zoro casually testing his Conqueror’s Haki on Sommer was hilarious, but it looks like things are getting serious now. The bandana’s on, boys!
K Bug: Did Zoro just realise he has an ego?
Kagurabachi – Chapter #132
Frog F: Some intriguing revelations this chapter. Giyu seems to have been the Sorcery Bureau’s first choice, and we finally got to see the female sword bearer, putting the Chiaki theories to rest. But Ibuki Misaka stole the chapter. What an entrance!
K Bug: Motorbike and lightning? Very, very frightening.
Akane-Banashi – Chapter #223
Frog F: Issho has to be one of the best antagonists to ever appear in Jump. And that colour page is incredible. Keeping almost everything black and white makes the piercing red of his eyes hit even harder.
Ichi the Witch – Chapter #99
Frog F: Kumu-Gi-Oh! Time to d-d-d-defeat that Majik at his own game. Literally.
K Bug: Of all the things this series has thrown out there, immediately understanding a card game may be the most unbelievable.
Roku’s House of Oddities – Chapter #23
Frog F: I love that the author apparently watched videos of dogs getting vaccinated and thought, “That’s a chapter.” This one was hilarious, and the town of Kokubunji keeps feeling more like a character in its own right. This manga rules.
K Bug: This town is insane even without five curses running about. And how does a dog even sign a record deal?
Someone Hertz – Chapter #50
Frog F: After the earlier tease, the broadcast club’s microphone finally switched on by accident. Watching Mimei and Mizuo improvise and cue up a song for the school radio was a delight. Could this be the start of the two of them pursuing a future in radio? I think it would be the natural direction from here.
Graykeith: Translator Daemonica – Chapter #3
Frog F: I’m really digging Graykeith. The world feels rich and detailed, and the variety of demons keep finding new ways to surprise me. This chapter also gives Graykeith a clearer goal: finding a particular restricted tome to translate. And Morisu is a cute owl. I like that.
K Bug: Invoking the ire of magical tomes to defeat an evil paper monster and reign in a cosmic spider librarian isn’t hard when you’ve got a library card.
Animal Signal – Chapter #15
Frog F: I’m on the fence about continuing to write about this one. It’s fun, and I enjoy reading it, but I’m finding it hard to come up with much to say each week. I’ll give it some thought.
K Bug: Does this count as animal testing?
Cannon Master – Chapter #13
Frog F: That felt like a pretty abrupt reset after last chapter’s epic battle. I still get the sense this one might be getting axed, and honestly, I can see why. The art is fantastic, but the story and worldbuilding haven’t quite come together for me.
K Bug: It’s a bad idea to flout flute maintenance.
