One Piece – Chapter #1184
Frog F: A flashback within a flashback! Brook may be one of the most tragic strawhats. He’s lived many lives and has lost so many of the one’s he loved and held dear. Something tells me we are about to have an emotional bomb dropped on us by Oda in these coming chapters. Yo ho ho!
K Bug: Man, Brook has had a rough lives. At least we know it gets better…and then worse…and then better again.
Kagurabachi – Chapter #123
Frog F: This chapter hit me in the feels. I just want Chiaki and Kunishige to be happy together. But it seems they are somewhat of a Romeo and Juliet in this wild world of Kagurabachi. That final panel of Kunishige seems to indicate he is ready to make some nuke swords to drop on these mikaboshi bastards.
K Bug: I feel like sacrificing your child to an invading monarch in order to maintain a tenuous grasp on an unspoken status in society is, as the kids would say, a jerk move.
Ichi the Witch – Chapter #84
Frog F: Is this whole arc just people immediately rocking up and abruptly attacking in the middle of the Witch HQ? What kind of plan is this? I think the villains in this manga may be the dumbest in all of the current Jump line-up.
K Bug: Of course, the jellyfish make people love their wielder. …what?
Under Doctor – Chapter #18
Frog F: Well that took a sharp left turn. The Under Doctor is in Cameroon now I guess? What is even happening in this series anymore?
K Bug: I guess we have some bad guys for the series now? Also, I’m pretty sure eternal rest is the exact opposite of immortality, at least idiomatically.
Kinato’s Magic – Chapter #17
Frog F: I really dig this Majo chief. Can she join the guild please? This dancing style combat has potential to be pretty interesting. Maybe Kinato can try it out on the very majo women who are very obviously about to stage a coup to overthrow the chief.
K Bug: Turns out if a medic dances hard enough they can become a fighter and garner the affections of a village chief. Jury’s still out on how it’ll impact the upcoming coup, though.
Roku’s House of Oddities – Chapter #8
Frog F: Is this “Japanese Lunch Time Rush?!” No it’s just two curses involved in some hijinks in the school cafeteria. This manga is really fun. Side note: We need more Big Dog.
K Bug: A soldier and a king walk into a cafeteria; also the lunch ladies gain superpowers. There’s no punchline, this is just kind of a weird series (in a good way).
Someone Hertz – Chapter #35
Frog F: It was nice to see how Mimei and Mizuo first met and bonded over Mon-Mid. This is a true feel good manga. Seeing Mimei’s journey and the pressure he had to carry was affecting. I hope he can bring it home in this rookie cup!
This week’s One-Liner Corner :
“This cicada was a human in its past life. How can you tell?”
Frog F: It sits there mid-scream thinking “what do I do with my hands?”
K Bug: You ask it.
Class 2-B: Hero Destroyerz – Chapter #6
Frog F: Yeah, I’m not sure if I’ll be continuing with this one. Let’s give it a few more weeks but there is just something missing here. It just feels kinda aimless.
